His Gospel’s Effect: Lesson 20

Road Romans 16Avoid self-serving people that cause divisions Romans 16:17-20

How great to see saints working together! But you do need to realize that there are people that try to cause trouble.

Some people will claim they are serving the Lord but they really are serving themselves. They are feeding their belly by getting people to follow them.

A real servant of the Lord will be like Christ who gave Himself to bless others. A Christ-like servant will not try to get attention for himself. He wants the Lord Jesus to get all the honor. A true servant of the Lord will not try to get people to follow him by causing disputes among the saints.

So stay away from people that try to divide saints so that they get glory and gain for themselves. Avoid people who try to get attention for themselves. Satan likes to stir up trouble this way. God likes to see saints at peace as they all enjoy the Lord Jesus Christ. May His grace be with you as you walk with the Lord!

God deserves all the glory for His great gospel! Romans 16:25-27

God is able to make you solid. He is able to establish you by His own gospel. What a great God! What a great gospel! What an awesome person Christ is! How wise and rich is this gospel and the assembly of saints that result from it! What a plan!

In the Old Testament we did not see God had these great plans to save people out of all the nations and form them into the church. But now God’s eternal purpose has been made known. Here we are today as people from all the nations who have heard the gospel and believed it! We are part of God’s eternal plans! What a high calling! What an awesome privilege!

Such a wise God deserves all the glory! No one is like our God. What awesome thoughts He has! What rich mercy! May He receive glory through Jesus Christ forever!

  1. It is a personal one on one following of christ.
    Mark 8:34
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
    John 21:22
22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

    It’s a following through trials.
    John 12:25-27
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

When we follow others it is their faith we emulate.
    Heb 13:7
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

    1 Cor 11:1
11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
obvious huh, but not to the corinthians or us we divide because of pride, i want to be right and i’ll hang out with those who know i am, sad but true.
May God give us the grace to simply look unto Christ the Author and finisher of our faith and that includes all the time between (my lifetime).
