Jottings – False Doctrine

Jottings Pencil Red

Commenting on Jeremiah 31:29-30 & Ezekiel 18:2-4 “Nothing can be more disastrous in its effect upon men than a false doctrine; that is, a misinterpretation of what God has said to men, resulting as it must in a false conception of God and of man’s relation to Him.”

  1. A very good point! History also shows that without councils and larger associations of believers, working together to preserve and understand “the faith once delivered to the saints”, false doctrine can propagate in an unfettered manner. E.g. the Gospel Coalition and Christians for Biblical Equality are Evangelical/Protestant representations of “Councils” to correct or prevent “false doctrine”.

    • Interesting take on The Gospel Coalition, etc. as Evangelical versions of the councils. Never really thought of it in that way. Clearly every generation of believers has a responsibility “to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” Jude 1:3 ESV.
