1 Corinthians 4:1 — How Would You Describe An Evangelist or Bible Teacher?

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 1 Corinthians 4:1 KJV

Sometimes we put preachers on a pedestal, is this right? Well respect is important but Paul explains in this verse his two main roles:

  1. a servant of Christ and
  2. a steward of the mysteries of God.

May the Lord give us grace to see ourselves as God sees us.

Other scriptures referenced in this video: Ephesians 3:4-6, Romans 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:51, Romans 16:25-26, Colossians 1:27, 1 Timothy 3:9-10, 2 Thessalonians 2:7, Revelation 10:7

1 Corinthians 3:18-23 — The Christian has everything

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your’s; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s. 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 KJV

To end this section about division in the church, building with God, building for eternity and defiling the church Paul focuses on what we have Christ as opposed to what we don’t have. We should do that from time to time as well.

1 Corinthians 3:16 – A Church or a Temple?

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV

Here is an amazing factGod actually is with us whenever we meet as a local church.

This truth should blow our minds away but it often seems to pass us by. Imagine what church meetings would be like if it really gripped our souls that God was present every time we meet. It would make a vast difference.

May God help us to appreciate this great truth.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 – God’s Church Building Program

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 KJV

We often hear about church planting programs and it often sounds quite impressive. We plant seeds, we water the seed and God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). How do things go from the point where the Lord calls people out of the world and establishes a local church??

Watch this video to see how God defines church building. It is important to be clear on what is pleasing to the Lord.

Trust the Lord blesses His word to you.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11 – Building for God

According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 KJV

Who decides how a church functions? Should we really talk in terms of ‘so and so founded this church’?

How do we know what is good and what is bad when it comes to planting and developing a new church?

1 Corinthians 3:4-9 – Workers with God

For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:4-9 KJV

When facing the challenge of popularity in your service for God how do you cope? Listen to this vblog to see that the work is really God’s and all glory should go to Him alone. It is a recurring theme in Paul’s letters to the Corinthians.
