Free Logos eBook: George Müller’s Jehovah Magnified

Every month, Logos Bible Software offers a free eBook.

This month (September 2013) Logos is offering a book that you may be interested in downloading: George Müller’s Jehovah Magnified which is a collection of some of Brother Müller’s sermons.

Of the 34 public addresses included in the book one immediately caught my eye: “Love One Another.” The address caught my eye because the Lord has used a number of different means (here, here & others) to draw my attention to the “one another” admonitions in the New Testament.

In the address Brother Müller says:

What are the great hindrances to brotherly love and unity? Self-complacency, high-mindedness, pride, and thinking that we know more than others; but if, by God’s grace, we are enabled to subdue these evil tendencies, and to love our fellow-believer, and be united to him, we shall see, perhaps, that if in one thing we have more grace or knowledge than he, yet in four, or five, or ten points he has more than we. Who am I that I should despise my brother? What have I that I have not received? If I have more grace (though that is yet to be questioned), I received it from my Lord. If I have more knowledge (though that is yet questionable), am I indebted for it to my own mind? How does it come? It is by the grace of God that I know more than my fellow-believer.*

Very challenging words, indeed!

Flashback: This Week Last Year [2012 Week #11]

MV Shariatpur 1 Ferry DisasterThis week last year in Bangladesh 116 lives were lost when the MV Shariatpur 1 duble deck ferry capsized on the Meghna River after colliding with a cargo ship [Source].

Accidents such as this one remind us of just how fragile human life is. James wrote: “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:12-15 ESV.

During the 11th week of 2012 Digital Sojourner posted a number of interesting articles including:

  • A free PDF ebook, His Gospel’s Effect, of brother Bruce Hulshizer’s teaching series on Romans 9-16 was made available via free download.
  • Multitasking FailIn The Lost Art of Single Tasking brother Long Vo explores the value of being able to concentrate on a single task. Drawing upon the example of our Lord Jesus Christ who intentionally sought out isolated places to spend time in prayer with His Father, Long writes how it is so important for us to spend quality one on one time with our earthly families.
  • Last year’s post Is Change A Good Thing? continues to generate much interest as people continue to discover the article through search engines. Apparently many are googling this question. So is change a good thing? check out this fascinating post to discover why Crawford concludes that not only is change a good thing… it’s a necessary thing!

Enjoy this flashback to 2012 week #11 on Digital Sojourner!

Free Logos eBook by J N Darby

Logos Free Book by John Nelson Nov 2012

Every month Logos Bible Software offers a free ebook for download. This month’s (November 2012) free ebook is John Nelson Darby’s Synopsis of the Books of the Bible: Genesis to 2 Chronicles which is the first book of a five volume series covering the entire canon of scripture. Available for free from Logos’ website here.

I have personally used Darby’s “Synopsis” for many years and feel confident in recommending it to you as a reliable help. My old hard cover set has earned a prime position on my personal bookshelf as I often refer to it in my study of God’s word.

While I highly recommend that you take advantage of this free offer, I would caution you against purchasing the entire set from Logos due to the price they are charging ($109.99). Because Darby’s writings are in the public domain you can find the other volumes for free. Look Here.
