Jeremiah didn’t accomplish God’s will on earth by means of clever speeches, cunning diplomacy, or skillful psychology. He heard God’s Word, took it to heart, and then proclaimed it fearlessly to the people. God did the rest.
Wiersbe, W. W. (1996). Be Decisive (p. 18). Wheaton, IL: Victor Books.
It ought to comfort the saints and servants of the Lord when they feel weary. Let them call to mind that Jesus is full of ‘compassion.’ He knows what a world it is in which they live. He knows the body of a man and all its frailties. He knows the devices of their enemy, the devil. And the Lord pities His people. Let them not be cast down. They may feel that weakness, failure, and imperfection are stamped on all they do. But let them not forget that word which says, ‘His compassions fail not.’ (Lamentations 3:22-23.)
J. C. Ryle, Expository Thoughts on Matthew, (New York: Robert Carter & Brothers, 1860), p. 187.
And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy. 2 Chronicles 36:15-16 NKJV
