“And when Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, he said to them,’Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law. For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.'” Deuteronomy 32:45-47 ESV

The importance of God’s Word can not be overstated. This sermon gives encouragement and practical suggestions to help you read through Bible cover to cover.

Sermon Audio – Jeremiah 29:11 In Context

Microphone-blue

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

Jeremiah 29:11 is one of the most loved verses in the Bible yet very few understand the intriguing context that surrounds the verse. When properly understood in context this beautiful verse takes on even greater meaning.

Outline of Jeremiah 29
Jeremiah 29:1-23 – Letter 1 – Jeremiah writes from Jerusalem to the exiles in Babylon
Jeremiah 29:24-28 – Letter 2 – In response to Jeremiah’s letter Shemaiah writes from Babylon to the people and priests in Jerusalem
Jeremiah 29:29-32 – Letter 3 – Jeremiah responds to the exiles in Babylon condemning Shemiah as a false prophet

Also referred in this sermon: Daniel 9:1-5

Sermon Audio – Eternal Life and The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Microphone-blue

“This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:6-16 ESV

Other verses referenced in this sermon include:
John 1:12
John 3:3, 7, 15, 16
John 17:1-3, 24-25
Acts 16:31
Romans 6:23

Sermon Audio – Paul vs Paul

Microphone-blue

“Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.” Philippians 1:15-18 NKJV

“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-8 NKJV

Sermon Audio: NT Principles of Gathering – Part 2

“…Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified”

Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Found Online: F B Hole Audio Recordings

F B Hole

One of my favorite Bible teachers is an Englishman of a former generation by the name Frank Binford Hole (1874-1964), however he is better known as simply F B Hole.

Those who are familiar with his written ministry will know that he writes in a fresh, straight forward and easy to understand manner. His scripture commentary is unique among commentators as he often provides insights to the Biblical text that most other commentators have missed.

Brother Hole’s writings are available, free of charge, on the STEM Publishing website – Here. STEM Publishing also provides a nice biographical sketch of brother Hole here.

Recently I was delightedly surprised to find seven audio records of brother Hole. The recordings are on the audioteaching.org website– here. Considering the recordings were made well over 50 years ago the audio quality is surprisingly good.

Enjoy!

Audio – Woe To You Hypocrites

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. Matthew 23:13 NKJV

Audio: King Saul’s Incomplete Obedience

And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the command of the Lord your God” 1 Samuel 13:13a ESV

It is said of King David that he was a man after God’s heart. King Saul, however, was a king after the flesh. When we examine Saul’s life we find that he meant well, but he often fell short of the mark. His life was characterized by incomplete obedience to God’s will.

In this message we look at three time’s in Saul’s life where he almost obeyed. Sadly, incomplete obedience is really disobedience.

What can we learn from King Saul? Take a listen…
